Review #49

I first met Scott in 1997 and although I was working 60 hour weeks as VP of Special Investments at an investment banking firm I knew I wanted to work with him in some way. We soon formed Stock-Talk Partners and in “our spare time” we created Stock-Talk.com which contained individual forums for over 8,500 traded securities. Stock-Talk.com grew and quickly generated over 1.5 million unique page views each month. Self financed and profitable from the first month, the ad revenue from Stock-Talk.com financed the development of several additional forums including College-Talk which featured forums for over 3,500 colleges and universities, and USA-Talk.com with over 20,000 individual forums, one for every city and town in the USA. Had we gone public, or sold out before the dot.com bust, we might both be on our yachts fishing right now, but we learned a lot and enjoyed working together. In 1999 I hired Scott to help automate the back office of the firm I worked for. Scott not only took the project on, he created a system that automated almost every department, from trading to back office and from compliance to broker CRM. Every aspect of the firms operations was controlled and monitored by this system. The system was so impressive that when the firm was later purchased in 2000 after I had left, I was told by that firms President that Scott’s system was the thing they valued the most. In 2002 when I heard Scott was unhappy at the new firm, I offered to bring him into my new company, StockbrokerShop, as a full partner, without a second thought.

Scott is a straight shooter who says what he thinks, and does what he says. Working with Scott these past few years has been as profitable as it has been pleasurable. Together we’ve built StockbrokerShop and its reputation to the level where we now have National contracts with almost every major brokerage firm in the country. Our success with StockbrokerShop led to our desire to take on a greater challenge. One with the potential make the world a better place for both business and consumers. That project, iKarma.com, would not have happened without the dedication and skill Scott brought to the table. His desire create something that will be good for people and for business has been an invaluable asset with results that can be seen in every aspect of iKarma and it’s future success.
